Arthur's home learning challenge

Arthur made a mobile for his room. He made it out of cardboard, plastic balls, a stick from the garden,  paint, and cellophane. It has a rocket in the middle and stars at the top.

Marvellous Toys

For writing last week we had to put on our Green thinking hats and invent a new toy. It was hard thinking of toys that had never been made before.
After we had talked with our thinking buddies we had to write about our toys. Then for art we had to bring our writing to life and draw our toys.

Toys from Mayotte

Today we learnt about a little country called Mayotte. It is tucked in between Madagascar and Mozambique. Arthur's mum and dad lived and worked there for 3 years.

The children do not have toys like us, they make their toys out of things we would throw out.

Shadow Puppets

Today a reading group got to read a book called "Shadow Puppets" by Jenny Feely. While they were reading with Mrs Edwards the rest of the class started listening and became very interested in the text. No one was concentrating on their tasks, they were all listening to the group reading the book. So Mrs Edwards got everyone to pack up and the whole class read the book. Then she put out the same equipment from the story and let the class loose! Everyone got stuck in and used their creativity to make their very own shadow puppets.

Spring Fling

Today was the junior schools spring fling. We have been practising all of our dances and today was our chance to perform for our parents and school mates.
Unfortunately the weather was not too great but we had fun regardless.

Toys our parents played with

This week our parents had homework, they had to tell us what toys they played with when they were our age. Arthur's parents bought in some photos of the toys they had.

 

Predicting...

Today we had to put on our Green and white thinkers hat and had to write what we think our parents played with when they were our age. Some of us knew a little bit already but we had to be creative with our ideas.

Toys

This term we are investigating toys! We already know a lot about toys and had lots to talk about already.

Art with Mrs Shepherd

In term 3 we got to go to art for a whole day with Mrs Shepherd. We had been learning about shapes in our classroom and got to apply what we already knew to create a piece of artwork. Check out what we made, we are really proud of what we have achieved.
