Getting into our personal inquiries

Room 27 Inquiries

Getting started on our personal inquiry projects

After a week of immersion activities that encouraged us to be creative, 4 key areas of interest emerged; Beyblades, building cities and houses, making puppets, building playhouses. We have chosen which of these things we would like to take further and learn more about. So this term there are 3 inquiry teams working in our class- 1. What makes a great Beyblade? How do you organise a great Beyblade tournament? 2. How do you make a great puppet? What does it take to put on a great show for others? 3. What does a great playhouse look like? What do we need to learn so we can build a great playhouse?

Discovery Time - learning how to take turns

This week was our first Discovery time for the year and we were learning about taking turns. We talked about what taking turns looks and sounds like and why it's important in our classroom. Mrs Edwards showed us the activities that had been set out for us and then we got to fo and create and practise taking turns.

Emma's little ladybug

Yesterday Emma saw a ladybug on a plant. Her brother picked it up and put it onto her cat Flynn's plant. Emma picked it up and put it into a container and brought it to school to show. Today the ladybug needed some food so we had to find out what they eat. They eat aphids and spiders. EW! So we went to Mrs Anglesey's room and asked to have some of her swan plant that had aphids on it. Emma hates aphids.

J J J Jelly!

Today's sound was 'j'.
Words we know start with a 'j' sound are - jelly, jam, just, jeans, jersey, jump, jog, joke.
To help us remember this tricky sound we made jelly! We had to read the instructions and take care with the boiling water. Hopefully tomorrow we get to eat jelly for lunch! Yum Yum.

Alphabet Thinkers Key

As part of our learning about toys we decided to put together a list of toys, we decided to use Tony Ryan's Alphabet Thinkers key to put a list together. We put a twist on it, Angelina and Pari wanted us to use the percussion instruments we have been practicing with during music time.
This is our end result.
